A statement from President Hanlon condemning the recent violence in Georgia.
We are deeply saddened and outraged by last night's string of violence that caused eight people, including six Asian-American women, to lose their lives. We fiercely and unequivocally condemn violence in all its forms. While the motivation behind last night's shootings is still unknown, the increasing trend of violence against Asian-Americans is deeply disturbing and wholly inconsistent with the premium we place on diversity in our community.
We stand in solidarity with the members of the Asian-American community, especially those with whom we are fortunate to live, work and study on our campus, and are extraordinarily proud of the outstanding contributions they bring to Dartmouth.
We will continue to utilize the power of education to help illuminate and eradicate the ills of society, and to achieve a world characterized by respect, equality and justice for all.
