President Hanlon invites the Dartmouth community to celebrate our veterans.
To the Dartmouth community,
In honor of Veterans Day, please join me in recognizing all our U.S. military veterans and especially those in the Dartmouth family who have served and sacrificed for our great nation.
This year, we are fortunate to be able to gather on campus again to commemorate our veterans in a series of events on Wednesday, November 10, and Thursday, November 11 (Veterans Day).
Among the many activities, Dartmouth ROTC cadets will execute a traditional Retreat and Drill Ceremony on the Dartmouth Green; a Slide Show of Remembrance will be on view in Baker-Berry Library and online; and an evening program is planned with our esteemed Dartmouth President Emeritus and Marine Corps veteran James Wright, whose leadership has drawn much-needed attention and support for injured veterans.
I encourage you to participate in one or more of these activities, including our annual Recognition Breakfast, as we honor and celebrate the military veterans in our community and learn more about their experiences. The full schedule of events, including registration information, is available at https://www.dartmouth.edu/veterans/events/.
Also, don't miss a special exhibit mounted by the Dartmouth Students Veterans Association at Rauner Library from 6-8 p.m. on November 10. The exhibit will feature amazing stories of Dartmouth veterans throughout history utilizing primary source documents, manuscripts, and pictures.
On behalf of everyone at Dartmouth, it is an honor to thank the veterans among you for your extraordinary leadership in service to our country and your bravery and dedication to protecting our way of life.
With gratitude,
Philip J. Hanlon '77
President
