Inside Dartmouth's Budget

Each spring, President Hanlon and EVP and CFO Rick Mills offer the chance for Dartmouth students, faculty, and staff to gain an insider's perspective on higher education finance and Dartmouth's budget planning, in particular, through a special course called "Inside Dartmouth's Budget."

About the Budget Course

Over six, two-hour sessions, this discussion series unpacks Dartmouth's budget by exploring the institution's revenue and expenditures in the context of national trends and external forces that impact higher education.

Notifications of the budget course are typically sent out to the Dartmouth community by e-mail in late winter. Given the popularity of the offering, registrations are by lottery.

Dartmouth's budget is complex and the series builds on each session, so participants are asked to commit to attending all six sessions. The class is not offered for credit, but coursework is assigned. Videos of the sessions are available to Dartmouth community members with a valid Dartmouth NetID and password.
