Juicy, extravagant, glamorous, decadent and a crowd-pleasing carousel of Euro-trash camp, Ridley Scott's sordid true-life saga about the rise and fall of the Gucci fashion empire has something for everybody. When the crude, social-climbing Patrizia Reggiani (an unrecognizable Gaga) marries a Gucci (Adam Driver), long-simmering tensions ignite a bloody war for control. Weaving its way through the red and green stripes of the billion-dollar trademark and uncovering a multitude of true crimes behind the precious handbags and loafers that made the label a household name, the film reveals the Gucci dynasty as the most vicious, dangerous and ruthless Italian family since the Borgias. D: Ridley Scott, US/Canada, 2021, CC
