Widely hailed as the greatest mountaineer of his generation, Alex Lowe was a towering figure in the world of outdoor sports. But he loomed even larger for his oldest son, Max, who was only 11 when his father and best friend Conrad Anker were caught in an avalanche in Tibet in 1999. Anker inexplicably survived and went on to marry Lowe's widow Jennifer and help raise Max and his two younger brothers. In 2016, Lowe's body was discovered and the whole family journeyed to the remote mountain to recover it. In this powerful and deeply moving new documentary, director Max Lowe examines the long-buried feelings unearthed for him, his mother, his brothers and his conflicted stepfather. D: Max Lowe, US, 2021
