With dazzling choreography by Tiffany Rea-Fisher, the project has been in development throughout the company's three-year residency which began in 2020. The Hazel Scott Project provided the creative and academic focus for one of the summer courses that saw DTH dancers closely collaborate with Dartmouth faculty and students, inspiring conversations on race, activism and equity in the arts.

The work honors the legacy of Hazel Scott whose talents in both classical and jazz music changed perceptions about people of color and communicated across a diverse range of people and expressions.

The Hazel Scott Project is commissioned by Washington Performing Arts and will premiere at the Sidney Harmon Theater in Washington, DC  in fall 2022.
