In this Smith Tercentenary event, one of our most knowledgeable experts will reflect on his significance as an Enlightenment figure. Stimson is the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Chair in the Foundations of American Freedom, Professor in the Department of Government, and a Faculty Fellow of the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs at Georgetown University. Twice elected to a distinguished Visiting Fellowship at Queens' College, Cambridge, she has held the John K. Castle Chair in Ethics, Politics and Economics at Yale University, and is a nominator for the Nobel Prize in Economics. She is the author of numerous articles and books, including After Adam Smith: a century of transformation in politics and political economy [with Murray Milgate] (Princeton), winner of the David and Elaine Spitz Prize for 2011.
