RRR is the international cinematic phenomenon of the year. This Telugu-language ("Tollywood") mega-blockbuster has taken the world by storm, smashing box-office records in India and wowing American audiences with so much spectacle and action it makes the Marvel Universe look anemic by comparison. The story is (very) loosely based on real-life revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem and their struggle to free India from the grip of British rule. "RRR" stands for "Rise, Roar, Revolt," but it also signals two of India's biggest stars—Ram Charan and N. T. Rama Rao Jr.—joining forces with one of the country's most illustrious directors, S. S. Rajamouli. Together, they deliver a heart-racing juggernaut of a film, stuffed with eye-popping special effects, unrelenting action choreography, tender emotional sequences, and a few musical numbers for good measure, including "Naatu Naatu," winner of Best Original Song at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards. Nominated for Best Original Song at the 2023 Academy Awards.

This screening will include a brief intermission.
