Hop Film: Atlantide

This visual and sonic immersion into a speedboat subculture offers a perspective on the Venetian lagoons not to be found in any tourism brochures. Free to the public.

4:00pm – 5:45pm
Loew Auditorium, Black Family Visual Arts Center
Intended Audience(s): Public
Categories: Films
Tickets required.

On the placid waters of the Venetian lagoon, beyond the urban canals, a subculture of mostly young men tune and soup up their speedboats before racing with abandon. Yuri Ancarani's symphonic cinematic treatment of this not-so-glamorous side of Venice, Italy, is a startling collision of nature and machinery, absorption and stimulation, form and content. Experience Venice like you've never seen it before!

Free to the public.

Presented in partnership with the Leslie Center for the Humanities Institute's "Affective Currents: Moving the Environmental Humanities."
