Pablo Larraín's ("Jackie", "Spencer") wickedly funny, blood-soaked portrait of a decaying tyrant debuts on the 50th anniversary of Pinochet's coup in Chile.

What if former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet—who was never tried for his crimes—didn't die? Larraín's sharp-toothed satire posits that the fascist monster is actually a 250-year-old vampire, still hiding out in the remote countryside. Cooped up with his embittered wife and slavish butler, El Conde skulks about his ruined mansion decrying a world that denies him his glory. The black comedy continues with the arrival of his grasping adult children and a nun tasked with exorcizing him. Edward Lachman's gorgeous black and white cinematography only heightens the Gothic feel of this surreal and wholly enthralling tale.
