How well do you know your neighborhood?

Saturday, October 2, 2021
5:00pm – 6:30pm
Various Campus Locations
Intended Audience(s): Public
Categories: Arts
Registration required. Fee required. Tickets required.

Playful, imaginative and inspirational, POP UP is inspired by the personal stories, memories and anecdotes of a community. The one-of-a-kind performances are the outcome of Strike Anywhere Performance Ensemble's summer residency with the Hop this year during which they talked to scores of Upper Valley residents and students in preparation. During their stay, the ensemble also led workshops on Soundpainting—a universal sign language developed by composer Walter Thompson for live composition with improvisers.

These short improvised apparitions of music, dance, theater and/or visual art will be sprouting up in the most unexpected of places–windows, plazas and balconies–throughout Hanover and campus over the course of two days this Fall. Spectators will be guided on the search for the performances through clues on a hand-painted map. You may even notice some familiar faces; Strike Anywhere invites local community members to be part of the Soundpainting choir in the show. You'll see your neighborhood in a new light!
