A floundering business, a meek husband and a sick father aren't the only things ruining Evelyn Wang's (Michelle Yeoh) day. Her twentysomething daughter (Stephanie Hsu) is increasingly distant, and she's being audited by the IRS. This heap of misfortune is all too much to bear until an intermediary from another universe enlists Evelyn in a fight to restore order and sense to the world by aligning her with all possible versions of herself and discovering her innate strength. In a cosmic stew of fractured lives and alternate selves, directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert have stirred up a crowd-pleasing, box-office smash that brings the gargantuan project of the Marvel Universe down to the relatable level of the everyday.

Nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress.

Programmed as part of the Asian Diaspora on Screen series in collaboration with the Dartmouth Asian American Studies Collective (DAASC).
